Family owned since 1989 and employee-owned since 2000, IDM Trucking has stood the test of time. From humble beginnings with just 13 trucks, we've grown to haul over 12,000 loads a year across the entire Mid-Atlantic.

Our home in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley puts us within easy reach of the Port of Virginia and the region's largest manufacturing and distribution hubs — and we've kept the values and personal touch of a small company every mile of the way.

Van & Dedicated Freight

Dry van is our specialty. We build dedicated lanes and custom transportation programs tailored to the way your business actually runs.

Specialized Freight

Scrap metal, temperature-sensitive, and container freight. We're licensed to haul alcoholic beverages and run regular lanes to the Port of Virginia.

Cross-Dock & Warehousing

Shenandoah Valley warehouses and crews for restacking and cross-docking — available even when we aren't the freight hauler.

Three and a half decades down the road — and still run like a family business, because that's exactly what we are.

Our story

Built to last since 1989.

Family owned since 1989 and employee-owned since 2000, IDM Trucking has stood the test of time. From humble beginnings with only 13 trucks, we've grown to haul over 12,000 loads per year and effectively service the entire Mid-Atlantic region.

Our convenient location in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia gives us proximity to the Port of Virginia as well as many manufacturing and distribution facilities.

Our philosophy

Relationships first.

Since our start, we've believed that relationships are essential to our success — beginning with our clients and extending to every area of our business. We've grown significantly, but we've kept the values and personal touch of a small company, and it's helped us serve our clients better.

The other half of that relationship is trust. We strive to give our clients the utmost confidence that we'll get their freight to its destination on time, safely, and without issues.

Our thorough employment process has produced an amazing team of professional, experienced drivers fully capable of delivering your freight safely. And service doesn't stop once the load is picked up — our dedicated dispatchers are there every step of the way.

Our equipment

A modern fleet, maintained in-house.

Many companies cut corners on fleet maintenance — that means delays and damaged freight. We don't. We run an on-site shop where our fleet is regularly inspected and problems are addressed promptly, and we keep a newer fleet to limit issues. Every truck carries GPS, so we can give you up-to-date tracking and accurate arrival times.

Our services

Van freight — and well beyond.

While we specialize in van freight, we develop custom solutions for the dedicated transportation industry. We've partnered with clients hauling scrap metal, temperature-sensitive, and container freight. We're licensed to haul alcoholic beverages and have access to the Port of Virginia. And to better serve the Shenandoah Valley, we have warehouses and crews for restacking and cross-docking — available for a fee even when we aren't the hauler.

Owner Operators

Run with our team

As an owner-operator you'll enjoy competitive pay, fuel discounts, and our family environment — plus many weekends home, a company-issued EZ Pass, and licenses and tags for your equipment. Your truck should ideally be no older than 10 years and will need to pass a shop inspection prior to signing.

Qualifications

Preferred driver criteria

Current Commercial Driver's License and Medical Examiner's Certificate
Minimum of one year over-the-road driving experience
Minimum age 22 years old
No serious moving violations within the last five years (reckless driving, DUI, etc.)
