At IDM Trucking, we take great pride in being an industry leader in safety. We strive to go above and beyond the Federal Motor Carrier Regulations to ensure that our drivers as well as the people that share the road with them get home safely at the end of the day. In order to ensure safety on the road, we start by hiring safe experienced drivers with exceptional records and a mindset that aligns with that of the company. In addition to safe drivers, we have made it a priority to keep our equipment up to date and well maintained to prevent an equipment failure on the road. All of our trucks are inspected on regular intervals and phased out as they age.

We put safe driving right into the paychecks of our drivers by placing incentives on those actions which relate to safe operation of the vehicle. With on-board vehicle sensors, we can monitor fuel mileage and hard braking as indicators of aggressive driving. Furthermore, drivers are given a safety score each quarter based on accidents and DOT inspection results.

Quarterly safety meetings help us to communicate with our drivers. At these meetings we discuss company and driver performance, safe driving tips, and FMC Regulations. Our commitment to safety has helped us to win many awards including the Michael G. Haske – Stephen A. Wylie Award of Honor in 2012. This award presented by Traffic Insurance LTD, acknowledged our outstanding safety program with the best overall safety score. We owe much of our success to our team of safe drivers including eight active drivers with over a million safe driving miles.
